Decentralised Finance (DeFi) describes a decentralised ecosystem in which financial services can be executed on the basis of a blockchain. This ecosystem is intended to work without the usual central intermediaries such as banks or other financial service providers - a revolutionary step? Decentralised Finance (DeFi) beschreibt ein dezentrales Ökosystem, in dem Finanzdienstleistungen auf Grundlage einer Blockchain ausgeführt werden können. Dieses System soll dabei ohne die üblichen zentralen Intermediäre wie Banken oder andere Finanzdienstleister auskommen – eine Revolution? Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über Funktionsweise und Chancen und Risiken von DeFi.

Das geldwäscherechtliche Transparenzregister soll nun zu einem Vollregister ausgebaut werden. Einen entsprechenden Regierungsentwurf hat die Bundesregierung am 10. Februar 2021 beschlossen und am 31. März 2021 in den Bundestag eingebracht Ziel: eine immer effizientere Bekämpfung von Geldwäsche und Terrorismusfinanzierung. Aber auch insbesondere manche Kryptowerttransaktionen sollen zukünftig mehr unter die geldwäscherechtliche Lupe genommen werden.

Rafael García del Poyo, partner at Osborne Clarke in Spain and author of the book “Criptoactivos, retos y desafíos” (Cryptoassets, challenges and difficulties), has spoken on TVE’s Canal 24h about the rise of bitcoin in the financial markets.

While the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation will create obstacles to asset service providers, it will bring more cohesion to crypto regulation in the EU.

But it has not been lazy: based on its consultation in the second quarter of 2020, the European Commission published its "Digital Finance Strategy" on 24 September 2020 and in this context adopted a comprehensive "Digital finance package".

Crypto assets, tokenization of assets, asset-backed token, token economy, blockchain-based trading of assets – even seven years after the world’s first ICO, crypto assets, tokens and related concepts („Crypto Assets“) are still in the news.
